We seek to identify a results-oriented and highly self-motivated Electrical Safety Representative to play a significant role as a member of DRI's safety team and to operate in a fast-paced environment. The position will work out of the Company's Irvine or San Leandro, CA office and report to DRI's Director of Safety. Primary Responsibilities:
- Enforce safety policies and procedures in order to establish and promote a safety culture among all DRI employees.
- Conduct job walks on a daily basis in order to ensure employees are demonstrating safe work behavior and adhering to all the Company's safe work practices. Target more frequent visits for higher hazard jobs.
- Train (formal and onsite) all field employees on policies and procedures, safety and industry standards for all phases of electrical work and installation.
- Complete job site audit checklist and issue DRI Dollars when warranted.
- Issue safety violations to employees who demonstrate a disregard for safety policies and procedures.
- Review all new electrical projects for safety related or high-hazard job exposures and make sure any hazardous conditions are addressed and eliminated.
- Monitor the condition, maintenance and performance of all materials, equipment and vehicles on job sites.
- Interface with Operations management on a regular basis (superintendents and foremen) to ensure safety compliance and buy-in. Ride with superintendents visiting job sites to instill safety culture among all field employees.
- Attend scheduled superintendent meetings to ensure safety presence.
- Investigate all near misses and injuries and report findings to Director of Safety and Claims Rep.
- Conduct new hire safety orientations and other assigned safety briefings, and ensure the completion of new hire paperwork for field employees.
- Attend foreman safety training meetings and pre-job safety meetings.
- Work with Electrical Superintendent and Director of Safety to draft site-specific safety plans prior to start of electrical work on jobsites.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of three (3) years experience in a similar safety role
- Strong business and electrical industry knowledge, including a thorough understanding and practical experience with all relevant NEC, OSHA and IAEI codes
- Minimum journeyman level electrician skills
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships at all levels of an organization
- Minimum two (2) years of training delivery experience (formal and on-site)
- Strong evaluation and coaching skills
- Self-directed; ability to work with little supervision
- Highly organized; ability to take initiative and follow-through on all job responsibilities
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in a safety related field or in electrical engineering, an electrical contractor's license or five (5) years of electrical work experience with a strong emphasis on electrical safety
- OSHA 500 certification
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Foreman to Superintendent level electrical background
- Construction and/or commercial roofing industry background
